Multiple firearms stolen from unlocked vehicles in Lincoln

Lincoln Police are looking for two stolen firearms.

Officer Angela Sands said a .9 mm handgun was stolen from a glove box in an unlocked car left in a parking lot near 12th and C street. The 23-year-old owner told police he left the gun in the car from Wednesday to Friday, and when he went to bring it inside Friday evening it was gone.

He was unsure what day it was stolen.

That report came just a few hours after a 21-year-old man reported a gun and ammunition stolen from his truck.

He told police he left his truck unlocked in the driveway of a home near West A and Folsom Street Friday morning. He fell asleep for a few hours, and when he woke up and went to leave his loaded rifle was missing from the truck.

Two loaded magazines for the rifle and an extended magazine for a handgun were also missing.

Sands said these cases serve as a reminder to always lock your vehicles, and if you’re going to keep a firearm in your car to lock it up and don’t leave it in the car for more than 24 hours.

If you know any information about who stole these guns, call police at 402-441-6000.
