Musical hopes to bring smiles during pandemic

The upbeat musical is set in the 1960s and includes songs like "My Boy Lollipop" and "Hey There Lonely Boy."

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A new musical is coming to TADA Theatre on Feb. 10, called “Why Do Fools Fall in Love.”

The upbeat musical includes songs like “My Boy Lollipop” and “Hey There Lonely Boy.”

“The show is like Bridesmaids. It is set in the ’60s,” says Kylie Ensrud, an actress in the musical. “It centers around Millie who is at her bachelorette party that has been thrown by her best friends. There are great songs, fun, light-hearted, and a great way to forget about things for a while. A lot of us could use that right now.”

The theatre is following all guidelines put into place by Broadway stages so that everyone can feel at ease when they attend the show.

The cast also reminds people that theatre is good for their mental health right now.

“Art and entertainment provide a way for those struggling with mental health challenges to be creative and allow them to express their emotions,” says Ensrud. “Engaging in the arts can reduce pain, anxiety and manage depression. It’s important to support the arts in our community.”

“Why Do Fools Fall in Love” opens Feb. 10, and runs through Feb. 27. Some performances are also available to live stream.
