My Favorite Teacher Nomination Letters

Below are some of the other nomination letters we received for the My Favorite Teacher Contest.  Unfortunately everyone can't win, but here are some great letters we got that deserve to be read.

Marie Blair is the most adaptable, fun-loving, hard-working teacher in Lincoln.  She teaches Spanish at St. Joseph Elem. School, at UNL and on Wednesday nights, at the F-Street Community Center.  We are her adult Spanish Clases.  She is wonderful, kind, and supportive, and makes the lessons fun, which encourages us to try harder.

We remain Marie's students because of feeling like family and the sharing of her love and respect for Hispanic cultures.  We are using this knowledge to enhance travel, medical field employment, teaching in Lincoln schools, and friendlier relationships withour Lincoln neighbors.  Mare truly influences cultural kindness.

My Favorite Teacher is Mrs. Amy Peterson.  Mrs. Peterson is my special resource teacher.  Mrs. Peterson makes me feel important and successful at school.  She does things to help me learn things in a different way if I don't understand in the classroom.  Mrs. Peterson even came to my house this summer to help me keep up with my reading so when school started I wouldn't fall behind.  Mrs. Peterson is a great teacher.  She takes a personal interest in my success and builds my confidence.  She even came to county fair to see my exhibits!

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Mitchell.  She is a great teacher because she is nice and cares for her students.  Mrs. Mitchell is one teacher that will listen to her students and help them with problems that don't just include her classroom studies. If I ever need to talk to someone about anything she's always there. Mrs. Mitchell will be greatly missed when she retires.  She has been with Shelby High School many years and is very deserving of this honor.

Here is the reason that I have decided to nominate Mrs. Dowling for “My Favorite Teacher”:   Mrs. Dowling is a kindergarten teacher at Jeffrey Elementary School, she has taught for 36+ years and when I was in school there she was the reason that I looked forward to going to school everyday. She made everything fun, she would never yell at us if we did something wrong and she always had and still has a warm smile for all of her students, whether they be her students now or where her students in the past. I remember Mrs. Dowling always willing to help any student. Mrs. Dowling has and always will have a warm place in my heart. She is the best teacher in the world and if you ask anyone that she taught, what they liked about Mrs. Dowling they would say that she always has a warm smile and that she never gets mad at her students.I hope that you guys/gals at Channel 8 Eyewitness News see what a great teacher she is and pick her for one of the nominations for “MY FAVORITE TEACHER”

OUR FAVORITE TEACHER

The teacher that we would like to nominate is Mr. Ken Booth. He teaches Earth, Life, and Physical Science at Cross County Middle School. He also coaches Middle School Football. The reason we are nominating Mr. Booth is because he is very kind, considerate, and is very connected to his students, always available for advice or help. He is a very upbeat, funny and outgoing, teacher, who has a very close bond with his students, and makes learning a wonderful and entertaining experience for all of us. He is a teacher who we all look forward to seeing every day.

Nine years after graduating from high school, while taking a supervisory management class, I was asked to identify someone who had inspired me. Jan Zink, my past sciences teacher, was one of the first to come to mind. Ms. Zink was always optimistic, encouraging, and was truly concerned about her students inside and outside of the classroom. She made our education meaningful and encouraged understanding by using real life experiences, even leaving a splinter in her own finger to see how her body would react – what a dedicated science teacher! Jan Zink truly made a difference in my life and, I'm sure, impacted the life of many others as well!   I would appreciate your consideration of Jan Zink as a nominee for the “My favorite teacher” contest, as she was certainly my favorite teacher!

I Nominate My Teacher Miss. Johnson, at Goodrich Middle School. She is a wonderful teacher. She Helps out her students when they need it. She is very understanding and cares about all of the kids she has through out the day. She touches the hearts of many students. She loves being a teacher knowing that she gives us the education that we need. She has a great personality and she is very well liked at my school. She makes me look foward to going to school every day with her kindness and lovingness, and her laugh makes us smile. She is a wonderful teacher and we would love to see her get this award.

My name is Parker Jones. My favorite teacher is Coach Larry Shoff.  He has been teaching at Diller/Odell since our consolidation in 2000 and taught and coached in Diller Schools previous to that.  Coach teaches health drivers education and P.E. for the elementary and high school.  Coach ( that is what us kids call him) is really a kid person.  I was recently seriously injured in our Homecoming football game and Coach was one of the first ones by me.  He kept me focused on him and not my broken leg.  He even came up to the hospital as soon as the game was over and stayed with until I was transported to Lincoln.  And now he checks on me all the time.  He truly feels that all the kids at school are HIS kids.

Mr. Head has been my teacher for 2 years and I have come to recognize that he is a very kind, caring and passionate person.  I have a learning disability which can make his job a challenge.  He always has a smile on his face and encourages us to do our very best no matter how hard it is for us and  to never give up.  These qualities are the best to have  in a teacher and I have the best teacher ever!  I hope you pick Mr. Head for me and the rest of my class. THANKS!!!

Mr. Ganz isnt only mine but alot of other classmates of mine favorite teacher. He is a great teacher! Mr. Ganz really gets to know his students. Mr. Ganz would shake your hand everyday while you would enter his classroom and right then he would know if you were having a good or bad day. If you were having a not to good day he would ask you to step outside the room and ask whats up. he is truely a great teacher! No one really knows how cool Mr. Ganz is I really looked up to him while i had him in school. He is a great guy!

That is my about 100 words about why Mr Ganz should get a best teacher award.

My teacher's name is Mrs. Manley. She teaches Math and English to 7th and 8th graders at North American Martyrs School here in Lincoln. She is also my homeroom teacher. She is a great teacher who always helps me whenever I get stuck on a Math problem or English problem, etc. She is very funny and is easy to get along with. She is very nice and doesn't get mad too fast either. She also gives us chances for extra credit. She is a truly awesome teacher. Mrs. Manley is definitely going to be one of my favorite teachers that I'll never forget. YOU WILL ALWAYS ROCK, MRS. MANLEY!!

I am nominating Mr. Kechely, who is my health teacher this year. Mr. Kechely focuses on what we need help on or misunderstand. He takes the time to talk to us and has high expectations for us. He doesn't openly disagree with us, but will ask questions about why we think the way we do, and help us reconsider our decisions or opinions. Mr. Kechely still likes teaching us even when he doesn't like how we have acted. Mr. Kechely is a great teacher and I look forward to going to his class every day.

I choose my teacher Mrs. Christensen because she is loving and kind. She makes sure we focus on reading. For example, she lets us read every single day.  Mrs. C even wrote “read every day” on our chalkboard.  She cares about fixing our work.  She lets us fix our mistakes on our health test and theme test.  Best of all, she gives us a treat and prizes for being quiet and for good work.  I nominate my 5th grade teacher for her skills and excellence.

We are nominating Matt Lunn and Jill Lavene for the My Favorite
Teacher Award.  As teachers of students with a wide variety of
learning disabilities, we understand the importance of the team
approach when developing plans for success in school.  Matt and Jill,
as our Physical Therapist and our Occupational Therapist, are a very
important part of that plan.  Many people are unaware of the fact that
PTs and OTs in Lincoln Public School serve students in many different
buildings throughout the district.  Even though Matt and Jill are
assigned to many buildings and students, they make sure that they are
available for consultation and, if necessary, will come over to Lux to
assist us when concerns are new and pressing any day of the week.

Matt and Jill have helped with sensory concerns, mobility concerns,
restroom, feeding, and assisting with plans for independence.   They
walk into our building/classroom each week with a smile on their face,
greet each student, and then ask what they can do to assist us and
what new concerns are pressing for each student.  After the
consultation with staff, they get immediately to work seeing their
students and spending an enormous amount of time making sure that they
are benefiting the student.  Student's faces light up when they see
Matt and Jill, and honestly love visiting with them (weather that be
by verbal or non-verbal communication).

Matt and Jill are a very vital part of our Lux Special Education Team
and we highly recommend them for the My Favorite Teacher Award.

My favorite teacher is Mrs.Rosenberger. She is a fifth grade teacher at Ruth Pyrtle Elementary School. She is my favorite teacher because she gives my class projects and activities instead of making us just read from a text book. She is also caring and motivating. She shows that she loves teaching by helping us and working passionately. Also, when you get your assigned work done early, she always has something extra for you to do instead of just making you sit and wait for everyone else to finish. I think that you should pick her because she loves her job and she always shows it. She is a very good teacher and has a unique teaching style. That's my favorite teacher.

Confidence, reliance, dependence, belief, trust: those words describe our band teacher at Waverly High School, Mr. Rohlfs. Mr. Rohlfs is a new teacher at Waverly this year. He came to our program three short months ago and has already gained everyone's trust and exceeded everyone's high expectations. His devotion is not limited to our class period; his door is always open, always wanting to make this program the best it can be, giving it his all. Our commitment to excellence and our tradition of having an amazing band is still alive, thanks to Mr. Rohlfs.

I chose to nominate my 5th period Social Studies teacher Mr. Burch. I chose to nominate Mr. Burch because he is great teacher that makes class fun but we learn a ton. Social Studies was one of my worst subjects and before last year I hated Social Studies, but Mr. Burch made Social Studies become one of my best and by far my favorite class this year!! I have learned a lot this year but that's because of Mr. Burch. I really hope he is chosen because everyone that has Mr. Burch says that he is their favorite teacher. Another thing he has helped everyone this year understand is more about politics and how the election works. We were all very interested in it this year. I move a lot because of my dads job and I think that if Mr. Burch was nominated by me as favorite teacher I think that that would be a great way for him to remember me!

You should pick my teacher for the award because of the great person she is.  At first I was afraid to get her because I have heard horrible, untrue rumors of how mean and strict she is.  They're not true at all!   The day I walked in the classroom for the first day of school, she greeted us with a warm smile. As the day went on, I figured out that she was my favorite teacher.  She treats everyone the same and makes sure everyone understands the topic.  If you go to Pyrtle Elementary, who am I talking about?  Mrs. Karla Bachman
