National program will hold free teen driving class in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A parent worries any time their child gets behind the wheel, but one national program is helping ease those fears.

That program is named B.R.A.K.E.S., which stands for Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe.

It’s making its Nebraska debut at Lincoln Airport on August 12.

On Saturday and Sunday, it will host five classes lasting three hours each.

The first 15 to 30 minutes is in the classroom, but the rest of the time is on the road.

Parents and guardians are also invited to participate and learn the same things as their child.

That means parents and teens are on the same page after graduation.

More than 110,000 people have completed the B.R.A.K.E.S. program.

Teens who’ve done so are 64% less likely to get in a crash in the three years after graduation, according to officials.
