UPDATE — 3:20 p.m.: The Lincoln Police Department’s non-emergency phone number is back up and running for Verizon Wireless customers.

The department said at 1 p.m. Wednesday that the problem, part of a nationwide outage, seemed to be fixed.

“The issue appears to be fixed but if anyone continues to have individual problems, please be advised as work continues,” LPD said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department says a nationwide outage is affecting its non-emergency number.

We’re told 402-441-6000 is not working properly for Verizon customers as of Wednesday morning.

LPD says 911 is still available if you have an emergency to report.

The department plans to send an update when service returns to normal.
