Navigators chomp away, take lead late to triumph over Lincoln Southwest

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln North Star Navigators narrowly defeated the Southwest Silver Hawks 7-6 at Seacrest Field on Friday night.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Gators were chomping away.

With momentum on the line, North Star took a risk on 4th-and-2, and running back Jordan Anderson took it down the sideline for a first down.

But, the very next play, Southwest’s Cole Erikson stripped the ball out of the Gator’s hands, helping the Silver Hawks get all that momentum back.

The game was defense-heavy. Neither team was able to get on the board in the first half.

The first points were scored in the third quarter by Southwest’s kicker Ethan Sanchez, who made two field goals.

But in the fourth quarter, the Gators snapped back and scored a touchdown to defeat Southwest.
