Navy veteran presents honorary flags to the governor’s office

A US Navy Reserve Veteran presented the Governor and Lt. Governor with honorary flags at the capitol Friday.

The ceremony included the a color guard demonstration at the Governor’s hearing room.

“I appreciated Nebraska’s leadership in expeditiously providing flood response, and thought it would be fitting to organize an event honoring Governor Ricketts and Lt. Governor Folley with the largest flags possible, five by nines.”

A local from Belleview, LCDR Roen says his goal is to just be here to serve.

He believes the state government really stepped up when it came to serving the public affected by the spring and summer statewide flooding.

“I’m confident that it’s good, they’re doing the best that they can and I do hope that all the flood victims are getting the support that they need.”

These special flags also flew at several notable locations, such as the Statue of Liberty on Independence Day, Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day, and the Pentagon on Medal of Honor Day.
