LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)– The Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing hosted “Coffee with Cops” this Saturday at The Mill.

The Lincoln Police Department and the NCDHH organized the event to strengthen Lincoln’s deaf, blind, and hard of hearing community’s relationship with officers.

The 2-hour event allowed community members to have conversations about the disparities they’ve faced and how LPD can improve interactions.

Kelsey Cruz, Public Information Officer at NCDHH said LPD has efficiently maneuvered education and training centered around their organization. “LPD has been great and open to receiving training, presentations for all of their officers, and departments which has been so great,” said Cruz.

Organizers and officers alike hope to bring the event back sometime this fall to continue awareness and visibility for LPD and NCDHH.
