NDOT employee killed while working on highway near Grand Island

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Nebraska Department of Transportation employee was killed Tuesday while working on a road near Grand Island.

The Nebraska State Patrol said the crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on Highway 34 near the Giltner Spur.

NDOT and Hamilton County officials were helping clean up corn mash that had spilled on the road.

A GMC Yukon was heading west on Highway 34 when the driver lost control and struck the worker, the patrol said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
