NDOT: Snow and wind causing ‘hazardous’ conditions across the state

State officials are urging drivers to use caution or avoid driving altogether as winter weather makes its way across Nebraska.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation said wind and snow are creating visibility concerns and  “hazardous” conditions across the state.

The Nebraska 511 road map shows a large portion of western and central Nebraska roads at least partially covered in snow or ice. You can check current conditions here: 511 map.

The Nebraska State Patrol is monitoring the I-80 corridor as well as state highways and county roads. Troopers reported being busy responding to help drivers, but as of Tuesday morning there had not been any serious accidents reported.

Officials are urging those who do have to be on the roads to use caution, allow for extra time reaching their destinations and to leave additional space when following other vehicles.
