Nebraska Air National Guard members deployed to Afghanistan

(KMTV) — Around one-fourth of the 900-member 155th Air Refueling Wing based in Lincoln will be headed to Afghanistan, military officials said.

And those numbers will increase to about one-third of the force by next year.

The main bases in the area are Kandahar Air Base in the southeastern part of Afghanistan and Bagram in the northeast.

“It’s been almost a decade since we’ve seen this kind of operations tempo,” Col. Robert Hargens told the Omaha World-Herald.
