Nebraska Athletics boasts highest Directors’ Cup finish since 2010

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln athletic department on Thursday announced its highest Directors’ Cup finish since 2010.
The Huskers capped off a strong year by placing 21st in the 2024-25 Division I Learfield Directors’ Cup standings.
The award is given annually to the college or university with the most athletic success in a given school year.
Nebraska finished the year with 830.50 total points, marking its best finish since a 17th place showing in 2010. It also marks Nebraska’s second straight top 25 finish.
It’s only the fourth time in the last 20 years that the Huskers eclipsed the 800-point mark.
Nebraska was one of seven Big Ten schools to finish in the top 25, joining USC (2nd), UCLA (5th), Ohio State (8th), Michigan (13th), Penn State (16th) and Oregon (18th).
During the spring, the Huskers received 64 points from softball’s super regional finish, while also scoring points in baseball, men’s tennis and track and field.
Overall, 19 sports are counted in the final D-I standings, five of which must be women’s soccer, volleyball, women’s basketball, men’s basketball and baseball.
The next 14-highest sports for each school, regardless of gender, are used for the standings.
For the year, Nebraska posted top 5 finishes in four sports: wrestling (2nd), volleyball (tie for 3rd), bowling (tie for 3rd) and men’s gymnastics (fourth).
Softball (tie for 9th) gave the Huskers five top 10 finishes.
