Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers launches re-election campaign

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers on Monday launched his re-election campaign for 2026.
“We aspire to be the hardest working, most tenacious, entrepreneurial and conservative office in the country,” Hilgers said in a press release. “Every day we are defending Nebraskans’ rights. From beating the Biden Administration at the United States Supreme Court, to protecting children from predatory social media companies, fighting for Nebraska’s industries, and protecting low-cost energy and our critical water supplies—we work to honor the trust given to us by Nebraskans.”
Before taking office in 2023 as Nebraska’s 33rd attorney general, Hilgers served six years in the Nebraska legislature.
During his tenure, he served as the Speaker of the 107th Legislature, Chairman of the Executive Board and Chairman of the Rules Committee.
He was also a successful entrepreneur, building a law firm in his Lincoln basement and growing it to more than 100 lawyers nationwide.
Hilgers received his degree in economics from Baylor University and a law degree from the University of Chicago.
