Nebraska baseball throttles Maryland in seven innings

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska baseball team put on an offensive clinic Sunday afternoon, stomping Maryland 21-5 in seven innings to take the series in College Park.

As a team, the Huskers racked up 19 hits and committed two errors, while the Terrapins only had five hits and one error.

The bats woke up early as the Huskers built an 11-run lead by the top of the third inning.

Gabe Swansen led the Huskers with a 4-for-5 showing from the plate, racking up two doubles, a homerun and seven RBIs.

Joshua Overbeek also had a solid showing, going 3-for-5 from the plate with a double and five RBIs.

Pitcher Jackson Brockett (2-3) got the win on the mound for the Huskers, pitching five innings while giving up four hits and five runs.

Brocket also struck out four batters.

The Huskers will welcome Kansas State to Lincoln for a midweek matchup on Tuesday.

First pitch between the Big Red and Wildcats is set for 6:02 p.m. on BTN at Haymarket Park.
