Nebraska baseball upsets No. 5 Oregon State

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska baseball upset No. 5 Oregon State on Friday night, defeating the Beavers 7-3 at Haymarket Park.

The Huskers got on the board in the third inning with home runs from Tyler Stone and Dylan Carey.

NU had another explosive inning in the fifth with an RBI single from Carey and a home run from Cael Frost, going up 7-0.

Oregon State responded with a two-run home run in the next inning and added another run in the eighth.

The Beavers kept the Huskers away from home plate late in the game but couldn’t score enough runs to complete the comeback.

Nebraska hit .314 overall, compared with .167 for Oregon State.

Stone, Carey and Frost each recorded two RBIs for the Huskers.

Will Walsh got the win on the mound, striking out two and allowing five hits and three runs over six innings.

Drew Christo recorded the save, with two strikeouts and no hits allowed in three innings.

The Huskers continue their series against the Beavers at 2 p.m. Saturday. The game will be broadcast on Big Ten Plus.
