Nebraska catcher Josh Caron named to Buster Posey Award watch list

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska catcher Josh Caron was named Thursday to a watch list for a national award.

The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission announced that Caron is a candidate for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award.

This season, Caron is batting .308, with eight doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 40 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

The Wisconsin native is one of five catchers nationally with a .300-plus batting average, at least 15 extra-base hits and 40 RBIs.

Nebraska is back in Lincoln on Friday for the start of a three-game series against Maryland.  Friday’s game is being streamed on Big Ten Plus at 6:05 p.m.
