Nebraska College of Law announces new First Amendment Clinic

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLK) – Those who feel their First Amendment rights have been violated will soon have another place to turn.
The University of Nebraska College of Law is establishing a First Amendment Clinic thanks to a $1 million grant from the Stanton Foundation.
“We will defend the First Amendment rights of our clients while at the same time educating students on the intricacies of First Amendment Law,” Daniel Gutman, director of the clinic, said in a brochure. “To do that, we intend for our cases to span the ideological spectrum.”
Gutman was the lawyer who represented the Flatwater Free Press in its successful lawsuit against the state.
The Stanton Foundation was created by Frank Stanton, a longtime president of CBS News, to promote First Amendment and democratic values.
Thanks to the grant, there will be no charge for the clinic’s clients.
More information on the clinic and how to request an initial consultation can be found on the College of Law website.
