Nebraska crash deaths rose 28% in September

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Deaths on Nebraska roadways jumped 28% in September compared with a year earlier.
There were 27 traffic fatalities last month, up from 21 in September 2023, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Almost half of the vehicle occupants who died were not wearing seat belts, NDOT said.
Six of the people killed were motorcyclists.
So far this year, 193 people have been killed in crashes in Nebraska. That’s an increase of 20% from the same time in 2023.
