Nebraska cruises past Doane with 110-64 win

Senior transfer Trevor Lakes and freshman Eduardo Andre made their debut tonight. Sophomore Delano Banton also recorded a triple-double, the second in program history.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska pulled off a much needed win on Thursday. The Huskers (4-3) grabbed a 110-64 win over Doane. It was the first time in 120 years the two teams met.

Nebraska struggled in the first half, missing 15 shots in the first four minutes. Doane cut the lead to 23-19 with under 10 minutes left in the first half. The game turned to the Huskers favor late in the first half. Senior transfer Trevor Lakes made his debut tonight. The NCAA approved a blanket waiver to make all transfers immediately eligible this season.

Lakes went 4-of-5 from the three, and scored 12 points on the night. Nebraska went on a 33-7 run to close the first half. Freshman Eduardo Andre also got playing time after missing the first six games due to COVID-19 protocols. He added nine points. Teddy Allen had a team-high with 16 points and five rebounds.

Starting guard Delano Banton recorded the program’s second triple double. Banton scored 13 points, recorded 11 rebounds and 10 assists. He joins former Husker Cam Mack.

Nebraska begins Big Ten play on Tuesday. The Huskers head to Madison to take on Wisconsin. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CST on FS1.
