LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska defensive back Malcolm Hartzog Jr. will enter the transfer portal, according to On3.

Hartzog started the first two games of the 2025 season before electing to undergo season-ending surgery for a groin injury.

He plans to use his redshirt, giving him one more season of eligibility.

In Nebraska’s 20-17 win over Cincinnati in the first game of the season, Hartzog picked off Brendan Sorsby in the end zone to help lift the Huskers over the Bearcats.

Throughout his career at Nebraska, the 5-foot-9, 185-pound DB made 108 tackles, 13 pass break-ups and eight interceptions.

The Silver Creek, Mississippi, native started for the Huskers as a true freshman and played several different positions in Nebraska’s secondary.
