Nebraska Department of Transportation October fatality toll

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, October of 2021 Traffic Fatality Toll, twenty-eight people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways.

According to data collected by the Department of Transportation:

  • The 28 fatalities occurred in 26 separate fatal crashes
  • Of the fatal vehicle occupants:
    • 8 were not wearing a seatbelt
    • 4 were wearing a seatbelt
    • 8 had seatbelt usage marked as unknown
  • Fatality accident locations
    • Rural Locations: 16
    • Interstate: 5
    • Other Highways: 15
    • Local Roads: 8
  • 1 fatality involved a train
  • 5 fatalities were motorcyclists
  • 3 fatalities were pedestrians
