Nebraska Department of Transportation releases July traffic death toll

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska Department of Transportation on Monday released its traffic fatality toll for the month of July.

Twenty-five people were killed in crashes on Nebraska roadways.

In July 2023, there were 23 deaths.

Last month’s 25 fatalities occurred in 23 crashes.

Forty-six percent of the vehicle occupants killed were not wearing a seat belt, according to NDOT.

Nineteen of the fatalities were in rural locations, while six of the deaths were motorcyclists.

From January to July 2023, there were 115 fatalities in 105 total crashes.

This year, there have been 145 fatalities in 130 total crashes, a 21% increase.
