Nebraska Department of Transportation releases June traffic death toll

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Department of Transportation released its monthly traffic fatality toll Friday.
During the month of June, 18 people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the department.
Those 18 deaths occured in 15 fatal crashes across the state, while three of the deaths were pedestrians.
Two of the fatal crashes occured on the interstate, while six were on other highways and 10 were on local roads.
Twelve of the fatalities occured in rural locations.
According to the department, there were 19 fatalities in June 2024.
From January to June 2024, there were 122 fatalities in 109 fatal crashes. During the same time span in 2025, there was 100 fatalities in 91 fatal crashes.
The department said 33 of the 82 vehicle occupants killed during 2025 were using seatbelts.
