Nebraska deputy bitten several times while arresting a woman, authorities say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities say a woman was high on drugs when she defied orders and bit a deputy several times.
The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday that Gabriela Vargas Lopez of Mexico was in the Palmer area visiting friends.
The 50-year-old reportedly entered multiple businesses and a home, asking to speak to police.
The responding deputy said Lopez became violent and irrational.
The sheriff’s office said she wouldn’t obey orders to put her hands behind her back, even with the assistance of Spanish speaking bystanders.
Lopez is then accused of trying to run away before repeatedly biting the deputy.
She was eventually arrested and found to be under the influence of amphetamines.
The deputy was treated at a hospital and released.
The sheriff’s office said this is a reminder to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.
