LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) —A monumental moment at the Capitol as Nebraska Electors took the voice of the people and turned it into electoral college votes on Monday.

Within thirty minutes, four electoral votes went to President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike pence, while one vote from District 2 went to President Elect Joe Biden and Vice President Elect Kamala Harris.

Most of the eyes in the room were on Precious McKesson, who was the first black female electoral voter in Nebraska’s history. She represents District 2 and said moments like Monday mean a lot not just for African American women but women in general.

McKesson could be seen getting emotional as she cast her vote for Vice President Elect Kamala Harris. McKesson’s votes were met with applause from those in the room as history was made.

Secretary of State Bob Evnan reiterated his confidence in the election results and his admiration for how smooth everything went on election day.
