Nebraska falls to No. 17 Iowa to finish seventh straight losing season

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska football fell 13-10 to Iowa on Friday, missing its last shot at a bowl game.
The Huskers (5-7) have now endured seven straight losing seasons.
Nebraska outgained Iowa by 7 yards, but the Huskers were hurt by three turnovers and five penalties.
In the first quarter, defensive back Ethan Nation fumbled a punt return, and Iowa recovered it at Nebraska’s 17-yard line.
But the Blackshirts kept Iowa off the board when Ty Robinson blocked a 30-yard field goal attempt.
The Hawkeyes scored early in the second quarter on a 1-yard quarterback keeper by Deacon Hill.
On the next drive, Iowa recovered a fumble by quarterback Chubba Purdy at midfield.
The Hawkeyes inched their way to the end zone in a 12-play, 34-yard drive.
Drew Stevens added to their lead with a 28-yard field goal.
Nebraska got on the board with five minutes left in the first half on a 66-yard pass from Purdy to Jaylen Lloyd.
Iowa tried to answer on the next drive.
A 53-yard run by Leshon Williams put the Hawkeyes near the goal line, but Robinson blocked another field goal.
The Huskers tied the game in the third quarter with a 44-yard field goal by Tristan Alvano.
With 31 seconds left in the game, Nebraska’s Tommi Hill intercepted a pass from Hill.
But two plays later, Purdy threw an interception, and Iowa took over at Nebraska’s 37-yard line with 15 seconds left.
As the clock ran out, Marshall Meeder kicked a 38-yard field goal to give Iowa the win.
Purdy completed 53% of his passes for 189 yards. He also led Nebraska’s run game, with 12 carries for 42 yards.
Lloyd’s lone reception was enough to make him NU’s top receiver.
