LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Nebraska firefighter is on the road to recovery after after getting into a crash last week.

Gibbon Volunteer Fire & Rescue says Marty Neilan was taken to the hospital following a wreck with his side-by-side on Wednesday night.

He broke seven ribs in addition to suffering a broken sternum and a small brain bleed.

We’re told Neilan needed eight staples along the back of his head and five stiches near his nose.

He’s also had problems opening one of his eyes and moving the right side of his mouth.

GVFR says Neilan is heading home from the hospital this Monday and it’s thanking everyone for all of the prayers.
