Nebraska football awards final single-digit jersey number. Who’s wearing what?

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska football program awarded its final single-digit jersey number Friday.
Most returning players with single-digit numbers will still rock them this season, but there are a few new faces in the mix.
No. 1 was the final number to be awarded, going to senior cornerback Ceyair Wright.

On Wednesday, four numbers were awarded.
Sophomore wide receiver Jacory Barney Jr will wear No. 2, while junior wide receiver Janiran Bonner was honored with No. 4.
Senior linebacker Javin Wright will wear No. 0, and sophomore linebacker Vincent Shavers Jr. switched from No. 1 to No. 9.

The first single-digit numbers were awarded Monday, with transfer wide receiver Dane Key getting No. 6 and sophomore defensive lineman Riley Van Poppel getting No. 5.

Key spoke on what it meant for him to be a transfer and be one of the highest vote-getters for a single-digit number.

Marques Buford Jr. (No. 3), Malcolm Hartzog Jr. (No.7) and DeShon Singleton (No. 8) kept their numbers from last season.
