Nebraska Game and Parks doesn’t suspect a mountain lion killed a Lincoln dog

A few people have contacted the Channel 8 Eyewitness News Newsroom about dogs being attacked in the Lincoln Highlands neighborhood and the possibly a mountain lion was responsible.  Sam Wilson with Nebraska Game and Parks said they reviewed the death of a dog that was killed Tuesday around 6:30 p.m.  Wilson said the dog’s injuries weren’t consistent with a mountain lion attack.   The dog’s owner indicated a vet raised the possibility a large cat could be responsible.  Our viewers said a second dog was attacked this morning but we were unable to confirm any information about the attack from the owner or from Wilson.   Wilson said Game and Parks has investigated more than 100 reported mountain lion sightings in Lancaster County but none have ever been confirmed.
