LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is investigating the illegal killing of a juvenile bald eagle.

In a social media post Wednesday, the commission said the bald eagle was found along County Road 81 in rural Morrill County.

People with information are asked to send tips through the commission’s Wildlife Crimestoppers form or call 1-800-742-7627.

The Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act prohibits anyone from killing or wounding bald or golden eagles.

A violation of the law can result in a $100,000 fine, imprisonment for one year, or both, for a first offense, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service said.
