Nebraska gets $62,000 in settlement with drugmaker over Nurtec kickbacks

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska is part of a $59 million settlement with a drugmaker over kickback allegations.

On Tuesday, the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office announced a settlement with Biohaven Pharmaceutical Holding Company.

Nebraska will receive $62,688.71.

Biohaven is accused of giving health care providers cash and lavish meals to get them to prescribe Nurtec ODT, a migraine medication.

The company also paid some providers exorbitant fees for speaking at events, authorities said.

In some cases, the providers made more than $100,000 from the speaking engagements.

Thirty-seven other states, Puerto Rico and the federal government also joined in the settlement.
