LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Republican Party adopted a new endorsement policy last weekend.

In a press release on Monday, the state GOP said it would no longer back candidates in races pitting one Republican against another.

In 2024, the state party endorsed primary challengers to three members of Nebraska’s congressional delegation.

All of the incumbents went on to win by massive margins.

The release noted that the Nebraska GOP did not issue endorsements before 1990.

“The Nebraska Republican Party is united and focused on growth, voter contact, and electing Republicans at every level,” Chair Mary Jane Truemper said in the release. “By returning to a policy of not endorsing in contested elections, we can provide additional resources to all Republican candidates, ensure fairness, and give our voters confidence that every Republican has a strong chance to succeed.”
