Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts looking to fill Mike Flood’s seat in Legislature

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – After Mike Flood’s special election win on Tuesday, Gov. Pete Ricketts announced that he is now looking for applicants to fill his vacant seat in the legislature.
Ricketts announced on Wednesday that he is searching for qualified applicants to fill the Legislative District 19 seat, which represents Madison County and the southern portion of Pierce County.
Applications for the seat will be accepted immediately until 5 p.m. on July 8.
Those applying need to show that they have lived within the district for at least a full year and are at least 21 years old.
Whoever is chosen to fill Flood’s seat will serve until the term ends in Jan. 2025.

Flood will now serve in the 1st Congressional District Seat after Tuesday’s special election. He and Sen. Patty Pansing Brooks will compete for the seat again in November.
