Nebraska hosting community event on National Girls and Women in Sports Day
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska Athletics is hosting a community event next month to celebrate girls and women in sports.
The Huskers are holding the event at the Hawks Championship Center on Feb. 7, the 38th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
Officials said the event will “strive to celebrate, inspire and elevate girls and women in sports.”

The event goes from 6 to 7 p.m. Husker athletes will partake in interactive activities with attendees.
Officials said families with children from kindergarten to eighth grade will need to RSVP for the event.
“We hope that by highlighting this very important day, our department will be known as a leader in breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for girls to play, be involved, and develop life-long skills,” said Marquita Armstead, executive associate athletic director and senior woman administrator, in a press release. “Additionally, we aim to continue enhancing our support and acknowledgment for the many women who work tirelessly in the industry.”
