Nebraska Humane Society cares for puppies abandoned at Omaha fire station

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska Humane Society helped rescue a batch of puppies that were abandoned in Omaha.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, officials said a box of puppies was left outside an Omaha fire station for about 20 minutes.

Firefighters eventually noticed the box and brought the puppies inside.  Animal control officers then took them to the humane society.

The shelter posted photos of the dogs’ assessments, which included weigh-ins, vaccinations and microchip implants.

Once the dogs are spayed and neutered, the shelter said they will be ready to find their “forever homes.”

The Omaha Fire Department thanked the humane society for helping the “sweet pups.”
