Nebraska judge pushes back Wisconsin murder suspect’s extradition hearing
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An extradition hearing was held Monday for the Wisconsin murder suspect who was arrested in Nebraska after a crash near Lincoln.
Gavin Thompson, 23, will stay in Nebraska for at least a week longer after he filed a motion for a competency evaluation.
The judge will consider that request at a hearing next week.
On Friday, Thompson was charged in Nebraska with operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, hiding a corpse and theft by unlawful taking of $5,000 or more.

Thompson is accused of killing 67-year-old Dorinda Segebrecht and leading Nebraska authorities on a chase that ended in a crash west of Lincoln.
After a four-hour manhunt, Thompson was arrested on Wednesday and booked in the Lancaster County Jail.
Segebrecht’s body was found in the back of the car, authorities said.
Thompson is charged in Wisconsin with first-degree intentional homicide, burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon, hiding a corpse and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Officials said the charges filed against him in Nebraska will be dropped when he returns to Wisconsin, though they could be refiled in the future.
