Nebraska lands 5-star defensive end Williams Nwaneri in transfer portal

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Matt Rhule and the Nebraska football team made a splash in the transfer portal on Thursday, landing 5-star defensive end Williams Nwaneri.
The news broke on X in a post from On3’s Hayes Fawcett:

The 19-year-old freshman entered the transfer portal Thursday afternoon with a “no contact tag” and committed to the Huskers hours later.
On3 has Nwaneri rated as a 98.84, making him the highest-rated recruit to commit to Nebraska since the rating system began.
The 6-foot-6 defensive end went to high school at Lee’s Summit North in Missouri. His head coach was Jamar Mozee, who is now on Nebraska’s staff.
Besides the Huskers getting back Emmett Johnson and Keona Davis, this is the first portal commit for Rhule and the Huskers this offseason.
