Nebraska lawmakers prepare for shortened legislative session in 2024

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The 2024 legislative session begins on Wednesday, and lawmakers are preparing for the shortened session.

State Sen. Danielle Conrad – who represents a part of north Lincoln and Lancaster County – expects the 60-day session to be a busy one.

She said the first part of the session will focus on adjusting the unicameral’s rules and internal process.

Conrad thinks this will set the right tone, so senators can put aside their differences from last year’s session.

Her goal is for senators to work for Nebraska families by addressing tax equity, workforce challenges, child care and job training.

“All of these kinds of pieces that find so much common ground and help move our families forward and our economy forward,” Conrad said.

The 108th legislative session is tentatively scheduled to end on April 18.
