Nebraska Liquor Control Commission suspends executive director amid federal investigation
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Liquor Control Commission unanimously voted Thursday to suspend its executive director.
During an emergency meeting, the commission voted 2-0 to suspend Hobert Rupe without pay. The third seat on the board is vacant.
This decision comes after a federal search warrant was served at the commission’s office on Wednesday.
According to Chairman Bruce Bailey, the warrant was based on a joint federal and state investigation into alleged criminal conduct by Rupe.
“These alleged offenses relate to his fitness and ability to continue to serve in his present position,” Bailey said. “An immediate suspension is necessary pending receipt of further information.”
The commission expects more information to be released in the coming weeks.
