Nebraska man convicted of killing four in Laurel
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was found guilty Thursday morning of killing four people in a small northeast Nebraska town in 2022.
Jason Jones was convicted of 10 felonies, including four counts of first-degree murder, according to court records. He was additionally found guilty of four counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony and two counts of second-degree arson.
Investigators said Jones set fires at two Laurel homes in August after killing the residents: Gene Twiford, 86; Janet Twiford, 85; Dana Twiford, 55; and Michele Ebeling, 53.
Jones was later arrested at his Laurel home, where he was found with severe burns. He was taken to a hospital before being lodged in jail.
KCAU reports that Jones is eligible for the death penalty. His sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
Jones’ wife, Carrie Jones, is also charged in the case. She is facing one count of first-degree murder tampering with physical evidence and being an accessory to a felony.
