On a brutally cold day in January, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was called to Jemison’s home near Giltner on a report of two dogs constantly being outside.
A deputy said he found one dog dead, and another had hypothermia.
The windchill dipped to 43 degrees below zero that morning at the nearby Aurora Municipal Airport, according to the National Weather Service.
