Nebraska man gets over nine years in prison for sending child porn on messaging app

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Bellevue man will spend nearly a decade in prison for sending child pornography on a messaging app.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 35-year-old Robert Ryan was sentenced Wednesday to nine years and two months in prison for disturbing child porn.

On Sept. 17, 2021, Kik – a messaging app – reported that at least two videos of child porn were sent to other users.

An IP address led authorities to Ryan’s home in Bellevue.

The attorney’s office said authorities served a search warrant and seized Ryan’s phone, which contained “numerous” child porn images.

After his release from prison, Ryan will serve a five-year term of supervised release.  There is no parole in the federal system.
