Nebraska man killed in crash on highway in rural Merrick County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Cass County man was killed Wednesday morning in a crash in rural central Nebraska.
The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. on Highway 14 near U Road, just north of Central City.
The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said a Hyundai Santa Fe was heading north when it crossed the center line and crashed into a Ford F-150.
The driver of the Hyundai, 46-year-old Ryan Peery, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Perry was not wearing a seat belt, according to the sheriff’s office.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a hospital in Omaha with serious injuries.
An investigation is ongoing.
