Nebraska man thrown from motorcycle in deadly crash on Highway 79

LINCOLN, Neb. — A Nebraska man died Friday after being thrown off his motorcycle, authorities say.
About 11:30 a.m., Edward D. Trapp Sr. was going north on Highway 79 at County Road X, according to the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office.
The highway curves at that spot, and the 66-year-old from North Bend was trying to slow down as he approached a semitrailer, the sheriff’s office said.
But he couldn’t slow down in time and went into the ditch.
The motorcycle then hit a small tree, throwing Trapp and his passenger off the motorcycle, authorities said.
First responders pronounced Trapp dead at the scene.
His passenger was taken a hospital in Fremont, then flown to an Omaha hospital. Her injuries are not life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said.
