Nebraska Medicine names new CEO

Nebraska Medicine now has a new CEO set to lead.

Dr. James Linder, will be taking the role of chief executive officer of the health care system.

The Nebraska Medicine Board of Directors announced the decision this morning.

Dr. Linder will replace Dr. Dan Debehnke.

Dr. Linder has experience locally and globally, he’s a native Nebraskan and earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in biochemistry and microbiology from Iowa St. and his medical degree with distinction from UNMC.

He finished residency training in pathology at Duke University Medical Center, as well as at UNMC.

Dr. Linder was a member of the hospital medical staff for many years as a pathologist.

He previously worked as interim dean of the UNMC College of Medicine and as interim president of the University of Nebraska system from 2014 to 2015.
