LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – For the first time since 2014, Nebraska men’s basketball will play in the NCAA tournament.

The Huskers (23-10) were selected on Sunday as a No. 8 seed.

They will play No. 9 Texas A&M (20-14) on Friday in the first round of March Madness.

The matchup will come just a week after Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts resigned to take the same job at Texas A&M.

And as if that weren’t strange enough, the Husker women will also play the Aggies.

The selection is the latest accomplishment of the season for Nebraska, which made it to the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament for the first time.

On Friday, the Huskers will have another opportunity to make history, as Nebraska has never won an NCAA tournament game.
