Nebraska men’s basketball upsets No. 1 Purdue at home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska men’s basketball outlasted the No. 1 team in the country on Tuesday.

The Huskers defeated Purdue 88-72.  Nebraska hasn’t defeated a No. 1-ranked team since 1982.


Nebraska’s offensive output in the first half was bolstered by seven 3-pointers, four of those coming from Keisei Tominaga.

To finish out the half, Nebraska went on a 13-0 run.  The Huskers led 41-30 after 20 minutes of play.

Nebraska’s offense kept pushing past Purdue, with Tominaga, C.J. Wilcher and Rienk Mast leading the scoring charge.


Tominaga finished the game with 19 points, including five 3-pointers.  Mast had 18 points, and Wilcher ended with 16.

Brice Williams led both teams with 11 rebounds.  He also had 9 points, nine assists, two blocks and two steals.

Nebraska shot 50.9% from the field and 60.9% from 3.  Purdue shot 42.1% from the field and 39.4% from 3.

The Huskers continue conference play on the road against Iowa on Friday.
