LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Nebraska nurse practitioner had her licenses revoked Wednesday after prescribing patients medicine with a suspended license.

Andrea Meisinger also authorized prescriptions to patients in states where she did not hold the required licenses, the state says.

Dr. Timothy Tesmer, the state’s chief medical officer, ordered her to pay a $16,000 civil penalty.

Meisinger has a business called AR Virtual Health, which advertises weight loss medications such as tirzepatide and semaglutide.

On Nov. 5, the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office filed a petition to seek disciplinary action.

The petition charged Meisinger with immoral or dishonorable conduct, the practice of the profession fraudulently and unprofessional conduct.

According to Tesmer, Meisinger:

  • Held virtual appointments with a Nebraska patient while her license was suspended.
  • Prescribed medications in numerous states with no license.
  • Shipped patient medications to her own address or to a co-worker/friend.
  • Authorized dozens of prescriptions to Nebraska patients while her license was suspended.

The Attorney General’s Office filed a previous petition on May 16, which alleged that Meisinger was attempting to sell tirzepatide without establishing any patient/provider relationship.

As a result of that lawsuit, Tesmer ordered her to pay a $3,000 civil penalty, placed her on probation for a year, suspended her licenses and told her not to engage in any activity related to nursing.
