Nebraska pitcher Brett Sears gets national award for shutout against Ohio State

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska ace Brett Sears earned another award Tuesday for his dominant performance against Ohio State last week.
The Iowa native was named the Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Sears was also tabbed as the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for his shutout win Friday over Ohio State. He pitched all nine innings and gave up just two hits.
Sears struck out 10 hitters, marking his fourth outing this season with over seven strikeouts and zero walks.

No Husker has thrown a complete game and given up two or fewer hits since Matt Waldron against Michigan State in 2019.
Nebraska is on the road in Lawrence, Kansas, to face the Jayhawks at 6 p.m. Tuesday. That game is being streamed on ESPN Plus.
