Nebraska police share ways to keep kids safe amid manhunt for child abuse suspect

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Nebraska police department is sharing advice that could save a child’s life.

It’s calling on parents to stop leaving kids with people they’ve just begun dating.  The same goes for family members you don’t entirely trust.

The Henderson Police Department’s repost comes just a day after a manhunt was launched in central Nebraska.

The Kearney Police Department is searching for Jacob Ellingson.  He’s wanted on suspicion of felony child abuse.

Ellingson may have run into a cornfield near 145th and Riverdale roads in Buffalo County.

People are being asked to avoid the search area but also to keep an eye out for him.

Here in Lancaster County, there’s a way you can help put a stop to child abuse.

A Halloween fun run benefiting the BraveBe Child Advocacy Center is coming up on Sept. 30.

It’ll be held at Roca Berry Farm that Saturday, beginning at 7:30 a.m.

BraveBe supports children across southeast Nebraska who’ve been physically, mentally and emotionally abused.
